A powerful earthquake recently struck eastern Myanmar (Burma) and was felt strongly in several parts of Thailand, causing widespread panic. The moderately deep quake triggered violent tremors that forced thousands to evacuate homes, offices, and businesses for fear of collapse.

Initial reports indicate structural damage to some buildings, cracks in roads, and temporary disruptions to basic services, as well as communication outages. Emergency teams and local authorities mobilized immediately to assess the extent of the damage and assist affected communities.
In several cities, classes and public activities were suspended as a preventative measure, while residents remained on alert for possible aftershocks. Although preventative warnings were initially issued for coastal areas, no significant changes in sea level were recorded.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation and recommend remaining calm, following official instructions, and being prepared for further seismic activity.
