The grounds of the historic estate glowed beneath the warm afternoon sun, creating a picture-perfect backdrop for the wedding celebration. Friends and family, elegantly dressed, filled rows of white chairs beneath a flowing canopy while the gentle scent of blooming roses drifted through the air. A string quartet played softly as everyone waited for the ceremony to begin.
At the altar, Jack stood quietly, smoothing the front of his suit jacket in an effort to hide his excitement. Though he smiled at the arriving guests, it was clear he was counting every second until he could finally see Emily.
Then the first notes of the wedding march echoed across the garden.
Conversations stopped instantly.
Every head turned toward the entrance.
Emily appeared on her father’s arm, looking breathtaking in an ivory wedding gown decorated with delicate lace and tiny hand-sewn pearls that shimmered in the sunlight. As her eyes met Jack’s, they exchanged a smile that made everything else around them seem to disappear.
For a few perfect moments, it felt as though nothing could interrupt the ceremony.
But then…
Without warning, Emily stopped walking.
She remained frozen halfway down the aisle.
A puzzled expression crossed her face.
The musicians hesitated before the music faded into silence.
Guests began whispering to one another.
Some wondered if she had become overwhelmed with emotion.
Others feared she might not be feeling well.
Then something even stranger caught everyone’s attention.
The lower part of Emily’s dress began shifting on its own.
The layers of lace and tulle rippled as though something beneath them was moving, causing the fabric to rise and fall in unexpected places.
Lily, Emily’s maid of honor and closest friend, immediately rushed to her side.
Trying not to damage the beautiful gown, she carefully knelt down and gently lifted the edge of the skirt to discover what was hidden underneath.
